This weekend Jack raced in his first RGMMC Champions of the Future race at International Kartodromo Lucas Guerrero, Valencia, Spain.
The Champions of the Future events are run over four days. Thursday saw five practice sessions. Friday saw two practice sessions, qualifying and two heats. Saturday, their heats and Sunday, a Super Heat, plus the final. Jack had been to this track before in December for the Le Cont trophy, so he knew what to expect.
Qualifying as ok, not great. On his fast lap, a driver in front hit a curb, and it caused Jack to back off. Jack qualified P8 in group, P22 overall. That meant Jack started the heats in either P7 or P8. Jack had a good run through the heats, except one heat where he DNF’d. Jack made it through the heats in P19 and started the Super Heat in P10.
In the Super Heat, Jack had a solid race up from P10 to P5. This gave Jack a P13 starting position for the final. In the final, Jack made up five places over 18 laps to finish the event in P8, P7 after penalties.
