The United States has a wealth of driver talent. A nationwide passion for racing and strong grass root tracks that develop excellent race drivers. American drivers have options and a number of pathways that lead to world-class series like IndyCar and NASCAR. Every year, new exciting drivers make it through karting to the top flight in the US, like Colton Herta and Patricio O'Ward.

 

Getting an American to F1 is a big challenge. Finally, in 2023, after 8 years, the US will have a driver on the grid with Logan Sargeant. Logan started off karting in the US, before moving to Europe. At age 14, Sargeant won the CIK-FIA World KFJ Championship, equivalent to OK-J today, becoming the first American to win an FIA Karting World Championship title since Lake Speed in 1978.
