Pole Position in the WSK Euro Series

After the season winds down, it was time to close out the WSK Euro Series at the bumpy Circuito Internazionale Napoli. With the FIA World championships complete, many drivers see this as an opportunity to move up or switch teams in order to focus on next year.

This race marked 12 months since I moved up to OKJ.

It was the smallest field of the year, with just 42 OKJs, although all the leading drivers were present. It’s the regular WSK schedule. Practice on Wednesday and Thursday, qualifying on Friday, heats on Saturday, a superheat and final on Sunday.

Friday saw lots of up-and-down weather. The day started with a rain delay, but once we got started, I had three solid practice sessions. Over the course of the day the track dried out, and it was dry for qualifying. I qualified in group 1, and on my final lap, I went fastest! I eagerly awaited the results of group 2. Once that session had finished, I knew my lap was fasted for POLE!

That placed me on Pole for all three heats. Let’s say that’s where my weekend went downhill.

The track was wet for most of the heats, and I lacked running pace. I struggled to get my kart dialled in, and I fell back in each heat.

I got through the heat races in P16, which meant I started Sunday's dry Pre-final B in P8. I had good early pace, getting to P5, but my pace fell off, and I finished P6.

In the final, I started P14. A tough start that saw me fall back to P20. I crossed the line in P19 with a bumper and was classified P24.

Overall, it was a disappointing weekend despite a strong start.

Thank you to my team, Parolin Racing, my coach Lorenzo Travisanutto, my mechanic Mirco Anelli, Roberto Toninelli and GFR Engines for giving me an excellent TM engine! Thank you to mu cousin Oli for coming to support me and my grandma for looking after me in Italy!
